Construction time reduced:
Renovation cost estimated at $9.5 million
|
Estimated construction time for the proposed District Hospital renovation has been reduced from three years to eighteen months, according to Administrator Bob Mullen.
During the District Hospital board meeting held on August 15, 2005, the status of the plans for the hospital renovation.
The number of construction phases has been reduced from six to four, which would decrease the estimated time of construction to eighteen months.
Architect Bob Collins is finalizing the accomplishment plan, constructability review, and the total development cost of the project.
The board agreed to a special meeting at 7:30 p.m. with Collins on August 11 to further discuss the plans.
The project has been estimated at a cost of $9.5 million. Mullen said Medicare payments may cover a percentage of the cost - possible as much as 70 percent, but he emphasized that the remainder would have to be paid for by some type of general obligation bond. "The good news is that it won't be for the full $9.5 million, which significantly lowers the obligation from the voters."
Mullen said he hopes to have things ready for the taxpayers by the fall, with construction possibly starting in the spring.
