JOB SUMMARY:
The Respiratory Therapy Manager is responsible for the day
to day operations of the Respiratory Therapy department.The R.T. manager assures the quality of
patient care services provided by the R.T. department.The R.T. manager acts as a liaison with the
other hospital departments.The manager
provides leadership for the staff and is responsible for the financial planning
and operation of the R.T. department.
Education:Must be a graduate of an accredited R.T. program
Current Kansas
license
Current BLS and NRP certifications
Essential
Functions:Manual dexterity
Eye-hand coordination
Occasionally lifts supplies/equipment of weights up to 50 lbs.
Normal hearing and vision with or without corrections
Must have a good memory
Good attentions span for task/function
Must demonstrate patience, understanding, and ability to communicate
effectively at all times.

Assure
delivery of quality R.T. services for inpatients and outpatients.
Set up
equipment and medications and administer therapy as ordered.
Recognize
medical problems with patients and notify physician.
Maintains
equipment in proper working order and adapts the equipment to meet the
needs of the patient.
Communicates
with the physicians, other department staff, patient, and family members
regarding patient progress, problems and plan.
Instructs
the patient, family members, or other caregivers in therapeutic procedures
and/or exercises to be continued upon discharge.
Assists
in referral process when additional services are required.
Selects,
trains, and assigns department staff.Develops standards of performance, evaluates performance and makes
recommendations for personnel actions.
Supervises
the work of the R.T. employees.
Share
call and weekend duties with the R.T.department
staff.
Develop
department goals and objectives, and establish and implement policies and
procedures for department operation.
Prepares
periodic reports for top management as required.
Oversees
daily activities of the department to optimize productivity.
Develops,
implements and coordinates the department’s Quality Improvement Plan.
Orders
supplies and equipment as needed.
Possess
interpersonal skills needed to function in a “team” setting.
Creates
a positive, supportive working atmosphere.
Works
well with assigned co-workers and other department’s staff.
Displays
self-respect and pride in the institution.
Maintains
and promotes a positive attitude.
Possess
basic computer skills.
Demonstrate
